If you follow me on social media, you probably have seen a sudden flood of Budapest-themed photos on my feed for the last few weeks. As many of you might already know, I spent three days in Budapest exploring and celebrating my 21st birthday. But that has been and gone, so I don’t want to bore you with that!
If you have been read my previous blogs, you will already know that I am a big foodie, so yes, I do get very excited about cute cafe’s and yummy food. Hence why I have decided that I MUST tell you about this adorable Hungarian cafe, Ahoy Cafe!
I stumbled upon Ahoy Cafe whilst walking around in the city on a quiet Monday afternoon, which also happened to be my birthday. I completely fell in love with it as soon as I stepped inside.
Upon my arrival, I told the employee that I haven’t been to the cafe before, so a very friendly and charming guy explained the cafe rules… which are pretty straight forward…
- Find a comfy area to chill – There is two floors to choose from,
- Choose your food and drinks,
- Order downstairs at the cash counter,
- Sit down and relax – your order will be brought to you.
At first I was slightly anxious coming to this place, because it is known as the “Hot chocolate and Lemonade” cafe. So there was me thinking that I would get limited choice or just either a hot chocolate or lemonade, but I was far from right. I was very spoilt for choice when ordering – the menu is so big, ranging from hot and cold chocolates, smoothies, to lemonades. The best part is that they will customise your order to whatever you need or do/don’t want! As I am lactose intolerant, they gave me a hot chocolate with lacto free milk.
I don’t want to go into much detail about my whole experience. But long story short, when I came downstairs to order my drinks, me and the guy got talking and I told him that I am visiting Budapest for my 21st birthday… So what do they do? They bought up our drinks, and my waffle with candles. I mean how cute is that!? (It’s little things that make you feel like a special customer, ay). I must admit, that waffle was outstanding. It felt like I never had such an amazing waffle in my life (and I’ve had a lot of them all over the world).
I’m not exaggerating when I say this, but I think I have found the most perfect cafe for me! If you’re from Hungary and didn’t know about this place or are simply visiting Budapest, then I strongly recommend for everyone to visit this cute cafe! The whole ambiance is just so chilled, and the people who work there are so friendly, and as I mentioned their hot chocolates and lemonades are very tasty!
